Hihior écrivait:
>
> verbe n'est bon, car en chinois (comme en anglais
> d'ailleurs), on distingue les 动词 et les
> 系词, les deux étant 谓语 dans une phrase.

Les 系词 ne sont ils pas des verbes (on dirait auxiliaires, ou copules en français, je pense)?

> puis, il faut pas oublier ces phrases sans verbe
> (mais le 谓语 est toujours là).

Effectivement.

Uberche,

You say,
"The way Chinese respond to a fellow Chinese person and the way they respond to a non-Chinese are very different."

100% Agree.

You also state,
"Most foreigners know our governments also try to brainwash us but it's not nearly on the level that Chinese propaganda is."

Not sure what you mean or what standard you are using to describe brainwashing levels between China and the West. However, if GPE stooges Bush, Cheney, and Blair can fool the majority of the Western World in believing that there were WMDs in Iraq, the brainwashing apparatus in the West is very prolific indeed.

Finally you say,
"And yet still most Chinese I meet support and believe what their government says about Tibet, XinJiang ren and all other minorities... strange..."

The only thing China's Government leaves out in their coverage in the recent ethnic tensions in both Tibet and Xinjiang is the part the GPE-led USA plays in formenting the ethnic decent in those regions.

When you Learn Chinese Language always be asked to find out what is the difference in “别（bié）”,”不要(bú yào)”,”没有(méi yǒu)”. And the responses is extremely similar:”It is no difference, the all meaning is NO”. Generally, the answer is right, but some time the usage of words in the sentence is different.
We can find “别” and “不要” looks the same but different colloquial usage. “别” is more likely an order or request than “不要”
For instance:
别走开（don’t leave）
不要走开（don’t leave）
Against the “不要” and “没有”，these two words are used totally different in Chinese.
“没有” is used with nouns. It means there isn’t something.
But “不要“ is used to modify a verb or an adjective. It can mean someone do not do something or is not something.
For instance:
我没有书。（wǒ méi yǒu shu)
I don’t have a book.
我不要走。（wǒ bú yào zou）
I don’t want to leave.
I believe just more practice when Learn Chinese Language above in your real life, you would be easy to grab how to use in Chinese.

Hi Sole,
I would like to make you some suggestions from my personal experience in China that I hope you find useful.
The problem of studying in rural China or a small town, is that there is a few (or null) numbers of English speaking Chinese or westerns. This is not a problem if you speak Chinese or if you are going with a friend in order to hang out during your free time.
The first thing that you should take into account is Beijing’s official accent, which is the one they teach you when you learn Chinese at an institute or a university. In my own experience and other teachers at Aston have told me the same for other small towns they taught at, they have a different accent that is harder to understand (Ning Guo in my case) and even some local dialect that they mix with mandarin and make it impossible to understand. Not even the Chinese teacher that came with me could understand some of the things they said. This could be really frustrating when you try to practice what you have learned with the locals.

I also came to China looking to study Chinese outside a big metropolis. If you are interested in learning more about studying in Wuhu, you could read my post "Why you should consider learning Chinese in Wuhu, Anhui province.". I hope you found my comments useful and feel free to mail me at mariano.calabro@gmail.com if you need any further advice with this or any other aspects of your trip (visa, travel, weather, etc).

> When you tell a Chinese person, that "hey, you
> know what, you have been brainwashed by the
> government since you were born". He will nod at
> you, and say "Yeah, I have been brainwashed by
> people like you that I have been brainwashed."
> Just kidding, but at least, he will admit, "Yes,
> you're right. Every piece of news on the TV is how
> good the communism/socialism is." It turns out
> that the Chinese person has a two-side view of
> everything and he can trust the government only
> partially.

So I'd assume you are Chinese right? Because most of the time when I talkt o Chinese people about their government and media they become very defensive and try to insult me for not supporting China... (not all but most)

The way Chinese respond to a fellow Chinese person and the way they respond to a non-Chinese are very different.

> Then he turns to you and tell you, "You know what,
> you have also been brainwashed by your government
> and your media." How will you respond? Will you
> admit? I guess you will be diasppointed and say
> "Oh my god, you were indeed brainwashed, so
> deeply! Our government and media are not like
> yours."

Yeah... you are Definitely Chinese... Most foreigners know our governments also try to brainwash us but it's not nearly on the level that Chinese propaganda is.

> The Chinese person smiles at you, "Oh poor boy, at
> least I know I have been brainwashed." The Chinese
> government and media brainwash people in an
> explicit way, while some other governments and
> media are doing implicitly.

And yet still most Chinese I meet support and believe what their government says about Tibet, XinJiang ren and all other minorities... strange...

Definitely the media's fault. If all they showed was Black people kissing babies and giving presents ont he media you'd more than likely love them. Of course than you'd go to the ghetto and expect presents and instead you'd get rolled... so such is life I guess.
